Most of us just get by in life, moving between frustration, disappointment and heartache, and elusive moments of satisfaction and fulfilment. Sometimes we even feel happy or joyful! Deep within, we sense our emotional questions: Is my work fulfilling? Am I following my true path? Am I doing what I love? Am I with the right partner? How can I find true love? How can I experience more passion and romance? Am I living the way I would like to on this planet? What is the meaning of my life? What am I truly looking for? How can I make my life matter? Do I have one life or many? What is on the other side? Where is God?

The Magic Trip in Peru involves soul healing and life-change sessions guided by Stephen Shaw. It also includes mystical and profound journeys with the ancient and sacred teacher plants San Pedro (Cactus of Vision) and Ayahuasca (Vine of the Soul). All journeys are run in a sacred, secure, gentle and loving environment in the beautiful Temple of the Moon Garden, and facilitated by Stephen and carefully chosen first-rate Peruvian shamans.

Lesley is a Western shaman known as 'La Gringa' who has lived in Peru for 15 years, and is fluent in English and Latin American Spanish. She has extensive personal experience with the teacher-plants and is an excellent guide for the journeys. Her awesome love, light and energy are a testimony to the transformative power of the teacher-plants.

Javier, a true ayahuasquero and great healer, will be flown in from the jungle to do the Ayahuasca ceremony. Puma is an awesome shaman who began training with his grandfather after he was struck by lightning at the age of six. Puma was principal consultant to Joan Parisi Wilcox for her book Masters of the Living Energy: The Mystical World of the Q'ero of Peru. We have also scheduled a rare meeting with the mystical Q’ero, the first people of Peru, who live at great altitudes in the Andean mountains hidden from the world, and who only chose to reveal themselves as recently as twenty years ago when they descended from their homes to bring prophecies regarding the future of mankind.

The Magic Trip in Peru pricing structure comprises 4 areas:

Event Fee: £1,290 payable to Stephen Shaw via Google Checkout.

Flights
: You need to fly from your home country to Lima and on to Cusco. So from the UK, try KLM for Amsterdam to Lima, and LAN or STAR between Lima and Cusco. Bear in mind that there are airport taxes for internal flights in Peru (approx ten US dollars) and for international flights from Peru (approx thirty US dollars). International flights to Peru often land late in the evening, so you may need to stay overnight in Lima, and fly to Cusco the next day. If you like big cities then spend some time in Lima; however I recommend you fly to beautiful Cusco as soon as possible. The Costa Del Sol Ramada hotel is right at the Lima airport, so it is convenient but expensive. The San Agustin Exclusive Hotel is reasonably priced and located in an upmarket area of Lima near the sea; however you will need to take a 25-minute taxi ride to get there. Shop around on-line or use a travel agent to find the most economical flights and hotels; and make sure you have comprehensive travel insurance! Please note: all flights, airport taxes, your Lima hotel and taxis are booked and paid for by you. Make sure you arrive in Cusco at least by Day 1 of the itinerary.

Meals and spending
: You will need about $50 per day for lunch, dinner and bottled water. How much spending money you take is up to you. All currency should be in crisp, perfect-condition American dollars (locals will not accept damaged or worn dollars). If you prefer, you can change some of your dollars into the local currency Nuevo Sol when you arrive in Cusco. There are plenty of secure money exchange shops at the central town square. Credit cards are accepted in most hotels and some restaurants; Visa is most popular but Mastercard is often difficult to use. Traveller's cheques are usually only accepted/exchangeable at banks and bureaus. Restaurants and hotels add a 10% service fee, so tips are not usually necessary. You will need cash for most shops and craft markets.

Hotel in Cusco
: Here you have a choice. Most of the life-change sessions will be run at the gorgeous five-star Andean Wings hotel (see pictures below). I have negotiated best rates if you choose to stay here. Or you can stay very cheaply at the beautiful backpackers lodge Casa De La Gringa. Remember, it is always cheaper to share a room with another participant. Choose where you would prefer to stay, then phone me to book your hotel. Please note: your hotel costs are not included in the event fee.

The total investment of this trip will therefore be in the region of £3,000 to £4,000 (depending on your choice of hotel, and how much spending money you choose to take).

Andean Wings Hotel

If you can afford it, this is the best place to stay in Cusco. It is very near the artists' district, craft markets,
shops and restaurants, and the central town square - the Plaza de Armas. Most of the life-change sessions will be run at this hotel. (If you are staying at Casa De La Gringa you can walk to Andean Wings in 20 minutes). Andean Wings is a gorgeous 5-star boutique hotel and every room has been uniquely designed and decorated. Every room has a safe, mini bar, hairdryer, temperature control, TV and wifi. There is a beautiful spa in the hotel. Dining in the hotel restaurant is a pleasure, and breakfast is included for your stay.

Teacher Plants

The most common drug abuses in the Western world range from alcohol binges and nicotine to cannabis and cocaine. All r
ecreational drugs are known to have serious mental, psychological and physiological side effects. From minor hallucinations, anxiety, depression, intense paranoia and panic attacks to erosion of brain function, lung cancer, upper digestive tract cancers, breast cancer, liver disease and heart attacks.

Recreational drugs also damage your energy field and your connection to the Creative Life Force, pushing you further away from what you most need! This is the hidden cost of recreational drug-taking. I have never used recreational drugs for these reasons, and I strongly advise my clients and friends to never use recreational drugs. It's just not worth it.

However, recreational drugs are vastly different to the miraculous and mystical teacher plants San Pedro (Cactus of Vision) and Ayahuasca (Vine of the Soul). These teacher-plants are non-addictive with no side effects and have incredible natural abilities to heal on the psychological, emotional and physical levels. Many partakers say they feel like they had a year of psychotherapy in one session with a teacher-plant. Others have moved from agnosticism to believing in the Creative Life Force. Many people experience profound life changes and a deeper understanding of life and love.

San Pedro and Ayahuasca (and chacruna) are entheogens, meaning they assist you to 'meet God within'. These psychoactive teacher-plants have been used for thousands of years for healing and transcendence. It is absolutely crucial that they are consumed under the supervision of a shaman or spiritual guide. Importing these teacher-planets to consume them at your home is ill-advised! Teacher-plants are not recreational drugs.

Also, the importance of set and setting cannot be overstated: this is your personal intention and the environment in which you take the teacher-plants.

Please note that the Magic Trip in Peru involves soul healing and life-change sessions as well as separate journeys with the teacher-plants. Both the life-change sessions and the teacher-plant journeys will lead you to a deeper experience and understanding of your true nature, consciousness, life and love. Download the Peru itinerary for further information.

Your San Pedro Journey

San Pedro is an ancient, sacred and magical mescaline cactus. Importantly, it is not a drug, rather it is a natural teacher-plant; and it is non-addictive. It has been used for thousands of years by the shamans and healers of Peru as a way to facilitate powerful awakening, insight, learning, meaning, and healing. It’s various names are Huachuma, El Remedio (the remedy), Cactus of Vision or San Pedro, the latter alluding to Saint Peter who holds the keys to heaven.

San Pedro is likened to bright, warm, clear sunlight. Hence, your San Pedro journey takes place during the day, in the sacred and safe Temple of the Moon Garden near the awesome mountains. You will be fully briefed about San Pedro the day before your journey; and of course drinking San Pedro is always optional!

The San Pedro used in the Magic Trip in Peru is exceptionally powerful as it is cooked by our shamans for 20 hours (4 times longer than usual), and we use specially selected cacti to give profound and deep experiences. San Pedro tastes of earth, water-melon and mild ginger – quite palatable. However, the texture is smooth and lumpy, like drinking five raw eggs in a tall glass of fruit juice. Some people retch a bit but mostly it stays down! The secret is to drink it quickly, taking some slow, deep breaths afterward. (Hint: practise drinking five raw eggs in a tall glass of fruit juice a couple of times at home, taking some slow and deep breaths afterward).

Within 45 minutes of drinking San Pedro, you will begin to feel its effects, and your journey will last 10-12 hours. Part of you will feel fully present with normal awareness, while another part of you will have profound psychological, emotional and spiritual experiences. You do not lose control; it is not like being blind drunk! There will always be professional experienced facilitators and shamans present during your journeys; and we use the ancient practice of giving you as much space and privacy as you need, but we are nearby for assistance. To respect your experience, no photography or videoing is allowed.

What is important for you to know is that, unlike most other shamanic journeys in South America (especially in the jungle), we do not ask you to snort tobacco, or consume purging substances, or hit you with sticks, or pour cold water on you during your journey. These practices are not part of the ancient and pure shamanic way, and do not help your journey at all. With us, you will only consume San Pedro and then journey in a safe, sacred, gentle and facilitated environment, allowing you to truly let go and have profound experiences.

Your journey will be unique and personal. Everyone has different experiences. Try to have no expectations and do not compare your journey to any one else’s. The shamans say that the spirit of San Pedro gives you exactly what you need.

Your Ayahuasca Journey

Ayahuasca is another ancient, sacred and magical teacher-plant. Again, it is not a drug, rather it is a natural and non-addictive plant used by Peruvian shamans and healers for thousands of years to facilitate healing and transcendence. Ayahuasca is usually called the Vine of the Soul.

Ayahuasca is likened to mysterious, effusive, cool moonlight. Hence, your Ayahuasca journey takes place in the evening, in cosy and safe surroundings. Where San Pedro comes charging in brightly to do its magic, Ayahuasca swirls around gently and quietly in the background. This can be frustrating, and for some people Ayahuasca will feel like a tease.  Some of you may not get past these glimpses.

When Ayahuasca does take you over, it is profound and deeply spiritual. It often takes you through a type of ‘death’ experience and then a rebirth into the next world, higher planes or universal light. You might even meet your soul or God. The death experience can make it hard to let go, as you may see or feel scary things. The secret is trust and acceptance – what will be, will be! Your journey lasts about 6 hours. The great news is that your journey will be facilitated by one of the best Ayahuasca shamans in Peru.

Ayahuasca tastes earthy, bitter and sour but it is tolerable to drink. At least it is smooth with no lumps, and in a much smaller glass. However, it is a little more challenging to keep down – no worries, emergency buckets are provided!

Preparation For Your Journeys

At least one week prior to and one week following your teacher-plant journeys, please discontinue all non-prescription medicines and all recreational drugs, including marijuana.

If you can give up caffeine and nicotine during the same period, it will certainly enhance your experience. You absolutely must abstain from alcohol, recreational drugs and sexual activity during your Magic Trip in Peru. It is also recommended that you avoid meat, fatty foods and carbonated drinks during your magic week.

The secret is to enter the journeys with your body in it’s natural state, as far as possible, and free from all the stimulants and rubbish we ingest.  Remember, this is your journey, possibly a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to experience profound and deep transformation.
